Dolby Atmos is a surround sound technology that enhances the audio experience by adding height channels and treating sounds as "objects" that can be precisely placed and moved in a three-dimensional space. This allows for a more immersive and realistic soundscape, where audio can come from overhead and all around you, not just from traditional horizontal channels. It was first announced by Dolby Laboratories in 2012 and debuted with the movie Brave.
