A geothermal heat pump (GHP), also known as a ground source heat pump, is a heating and cooling system that leverages the stable underground temperature of the Earth to regulate indoor temperatures. These systems work by transferring heat between a building and the ground through a network of buried pipes. In winter, the system extracts heat from the relatively warmer earth and transfers it inside, while in summer, it reverses the process, moving heat from the building into the cooler ground. GHPs are highly efficient, environmentally friendly, and can also be used to provide hot water.
