Project Hajar is a collaborative initiative focused on carbon removal, specifically Direct Air Capture to Mineralisation (DAC+M). It involves capturing CO2 directly from the atmosphere and permanently converting it into rock. This pioneering project is a partnership between AirCapture, which provides modular DAC technology, and 44.01, which specializes in CO2 mineralization. The project has operations in Oman and the UAE, notably in the Hajar Mountains, where naturally abundant peridotite rock formations are utilized for the mineralization process. Project Hajar has gained significant recognition, including a $1 million XFACTOR award in the XPRIZE Carbon Removal competition for its innovative and scalable approach to combating climate change.
